Might be Jon, but since this machine is limited to driving a couple
printers that will never cut metal, I don't care.

What I do care is if I can setup sims to essentially dupe the working
envelop and # of axises to match my real machines so I can write code
that will usually run on the real machine. So I install this machine
from your stretch iso to get as much compatibility as I can.

It does take a lot more fiddling to get stretch working than it ever did
wheezy. Biggest headache is getting the routing you put in /e/n/i to
take, avahi-daemon and dhcpdc5 (sp?) both need to be removed to get rid
of the 169.xxx.xxx.xxx bullshit they pull out of thin air and override
your route and gateway choices with. The rest of setting up a hosts
based network is a piece of cake, takes another 5 minutes. This is also
true for the buster install on a pi4. So by now I am used to it.

===================

Now, when I get back from the shop the middle of this week, I've been
getting amanda all setup for everything, and will probably install the
stretch iso on the other 3 machines that are still on wheezy.

The power supply I thought was too puny turns out to be a short circuit,
apparently in a multicore cable I was using to fire a relay that turns
on the coolant pump for the spindle motor when the spindle is energized.
I think. I noted that I didn't put a flywheel diode on that relay, so
I'm going to replace the questionable wire and put a flywheel diode on
the coil, hopefully tomorrow. If I can find a suitable diode, I'm out of
power diodes and don't 100% trust 1N914's I have bags of for that
service. Maybe series 2 of them?

Tuesday they knock me out and put a new aortic valve on top of my heart.
Maybe that will give me back some giddyup. So I'll be offline for a
couple days as they want to keep me overnight for the knockout to wear
off, else they're afraid I can't drive myself home.
