Just pinging the thread again,
If I update the RTAI tree with the latest 4.19 kernel, would it be worth
anyone's while?
Thanks,

Crickets. I'm probably not qualified to say yay or nay. What I will say
is that I built
a 4.19 for my pi a couple yeas ago and it has yet to crash. Its running
an 80 yo
Sheldon Lathe, an 11x54 that should been scrapped as its bed wear plus a
fallover
ruined it. Broke the compound, bent the spindle were the obvious
problems. I found
others as I went along.
I had to make much of the linuxcnc conversion out of whole cloth, and I
now have a
medium sized lathe that works very well, and knows lots more dance steps
than it
ever dreamed of in Chicago.
If you can put RTAI into this kernel:
4.19.71-rt24-v7l+ #1 SMP PREEMPT RT Thu Feb 6 07:09:18 EST 2020 armv7l,
I'd sure try it, but generally it is not an intel.
Up to you IOW. Take care and sty well.
