UEFI, something I bypassed in the broken bookworm install I've been
running for almost 3 years now.

What useful purpose flows from UEFI for me? I see it as something Gates

Uptime is until the next power failure, draws 14 watts idle, 19 in the
middle of a backup
run. Looks like a disaster with the hubs (2 cause one shuts down from
over current) with
all those startech usb adapter cables hanging out.
But it Just Works. Goes thru my current 8 machine mess, 9nth in the
wings after I re-arrange
some furniture to make room for an Sovol SV08 Max I just bought, backing
up the user 1000
directory in /home/gene where I do all my work, in under 30 minutes.
So, skipping the UEFI crap, will it work?
I'll check some more machines.
Did you find any?
Yes, an ASUS Vivobook, just a few hours ago. I can confirm that the LinuxCNC
logo does not appear.
I also found that booting the GUI with the "failsave mode" left me without a
working mouse or keyboard, also external devices did not work.
Somewhat unexpected, after a reboot the USB stick was no longer recognized as
bootable. A reflash fixed that. Weird.

That sounds a bit like its not quite ready for prime time. Fixing all
that is probably above my pay grade.
