For what it is worth... I own GriD laptop computer whose 
          bottom casting is magnesium.  GriD was famous for its 
          rugged, magnesium computers -- and they were sold worldwide.
          
          I do recall an insulating plastic sheet between the board 
          and the casting, though.

Does anyone have information on the use of Magnesium in ITE equipment.  Under 
some circumstances the metal Magnesium can burn.  IEC950 gives rules only for 
plastic parts.
          
The actual application is for a casting to save weight.  It is close to motors 
enclosed in metal, cables, printed wiring boards with low power consumption. 
No shock or energy hazard circuits.
