Hi Mike,
We got a statement from the KBA (Kraftfahrtbundesamt) - Notified Body
according Automotive Directive that such equipment need to have a E-Mark
according 95/54/EC.

We really did not agree completely because that equipment is not fixed in
the car. Therefore we thought that EMC-Directive with the both generic
standards EN 50081-1 and EN 50082-1 cover the system much better as the
95/54/EC.

But the statement from the KBA is very clear!

Best regards

We are planning to market a car adaptor to allow users to power their
laptops from a car cigarette lighter. Are there any regulations that
apply to this type of product?

     Thanks
