Hi Robert,

     This is all I know.

AS 2380.7-1987 is titled "Intrinsic Safety 1". It specifies design,
construction and testing requirements for intrinsically safe
electrical equipment for use in explosive atmospheres. It is
     technically similar IEC79-11.

I hope you get a bang out of this info (and that your customer
     doesn't).

     Regards

I received a recent request from a potential customer for an industrial PC
that meets the following 2 specifications.

Australian Standard 2380.7-1987 and IEC 79-11.

I am not familiar with these standards and would appreciate any information
on these standards. Ideally, I would like to know what these standards
cover, as well as how close the US counterparts come to meeting them.

For example, if these are product safety standards for ITE, how close does
UL1950 come!!

Thanks in advance for any information that you guys have on these standards!
