How about an old standby:

"WARNING - For continued protection, replace only with the same type and
rating of fuse."

Fusing characteristics are important (1.7.6 of IEC950). If a specific
fuse type is required (e.g., time delay, fast blow, ceramic, explosion
proof, etc.), then that information must also be displayed on the product
AND in the manual's set of safety instructions (1.7.2 of IEC950) and fuse
replacement instructions.

Short of a hand coming out of the manual and slapping the face about
(safely, I might add), the above statement and considerations should
suffice for clarity and conciseness.

Any other thoughts ?

Just my 2 cents worth (now valued at about 1.2 cents) based on my opinion
alone.

Subject: How to specify IEC fuses

I want to specify in a user manual the use of IEC 127 fuses rather than
U.S./Canadian fuses, and need to find wording that is clear and concise,
especially to Americans. Suggestions please?

Since the fuse curves are significantly different, the use of the
American style fuse can lead to premature fuse opening.

The fuse I want:
5 x 20 mm F 1A 250V (Low or High break capacity) per IEC 127-2 sheet 1
or 2, typically SEMKO approved, UL and CSA recognized, such as
   Bussmann GDA or GDB
   Littelfuse 216
   Schurter SP or SFS

The fuse I DON'T want:
5 X 20 mm fast-blo 1A 250V per UL & CSA standards, Listed by UL and CSA,
such as
   Bussmann GMA
   Littelfuse 235

Anyone have any favorite wording?
