Richard,

In my opinion, the Notified Body request to keep test samples for 10 years does
not pass the sanity test. The last piece of equipment which I tested two weeks
ago had a factory worth of around $350K. When we were done taking measurements,
it was shipped to a custormer. I can imagine what furor management would be in
if they were told that we had to keep the unit in storage for 10 years.

TCF yes, unit no.

Of course, that's my opinion, not Hughes.

A Notified Body for EMC has told us that we must keep the test sample
for 10 years. Since there is nothing in the Directive that requires
samples to be kept, we find this request to be unacceptable. We have a
TCF and understand that it must be kept for 10 years after production
ceases. Has anyone else encountered this type of requirement by a
Notified Body?
