Mirko,
Following are comments I sent to the BMTA (British Measurement and Testing
Association) and which I hope you may find useful. Please email me should
you require any clarification or amplification.
Regards, Bill.
4.3.3.4 I suggest the addition to this clause of:
"and to ensure that (except when an earlier issue is
specifically requested) the latest version of a document will
automatically be displayed or printed.
"NOTE: Computerised systems employing 'caching' (e.g. web
browsers) retain a local copy of a document and this is not
always over-written by a later version."
4.4.1, Note 3
Add "However a written note should always be made of any oral
agreement for the avoidance of doubt."
4.5.3 The NOTE should logically come at the end of the section, i.e.
after para 4.5.5, otherwise it is inconsistent with 4.5.4.
Ideally 4.5.4 should read "... except in the circumstances
described in the NOTE."
5.4.7 Note typographical error - heading should read "Estimation of
uncertainty of measurement."
5.4.8.2 The NOTE requires qualification. Even popular commercial
software may have a 'bug' which is not discovered for some
considerable time. Hence the rationale for the new NMS Software
in Metrology Programme. Independent validation should be sought
wherever possible, or steps taken to validate the software as
far as practical.
5.7.2 Note extraneous blank line.
[NB in 5.4.8.2, NMS = the (UK) National Measurement System]
