Just an aside, but last time I looked, UL was not NRTL accredited for UL
3101-1(very strange I agree, but.....in order to be legal one has to be
very careful). Certainly the new labs (ETL,MET, CSA) do have NRTL approval
for UL 3101-1.

Lisa:

Essentially, you could go the UL route.
UL has harmonized their lab standard with the EN requirements.
Therefore EN 61010-1 and UL3101 are harmonized.
A manufacturer can receive a TUV PS report or certificate to EN 61010-1 and
then for an audit fee, they can receive a UL and/or cUL mark.
The cUL mark is accepted in Canada in place of the CSA mark.

Maybe someone can clarify this for me. I have a product which is currently
CE approved including LVD to 61010 that I also wish to have CSA approved
for use in Canada. I know at one time there were conflicting requirements
but now I believe that CSA uses 61010 as well. What is involved in getting
both approvals? Does it require a retest by CSA to verify 61010 compliance
or will they accept the report done for the CE mark? Any help would be
appreciated.

     Happy Holidays!

               Lisa
