Yes they do, but I was parochially thinking of this country only, and I am
not familiar with the Eurocae document, or its nomenclature. Not to start
another long thread, but RTCA/DO-160 is an ISO standard with an ISO number,
so is the Eurocae document which covers the same subject area also an ISO
document? Then why the redundancy? Just asking. I have absolutely no need
to know.

Hi Ken,

don't EuroCAE also have their document....

Derek.

Exactly. Aircraft equipment meets RTCA/DO-160, and automotive equipment
meets SAE JXXX.

I do not work with devices that would be in vehicles or aircraft, but would
it not be true, however, that there are a different set of standards that
are applicable to devices used in these installations?

Subject: FCC Part 15.103 Exempted Devices

To all,

In part 15.103 there is a statement that exempts a digital device
utilized exclusively in any transportation vehicle including motor vehicles
and aircraft.

Does this mean FCC part 15 conducted and radiated emissions testing
requirements are removed from this product. ?
What is the logic behind this exemption?

Is the FCC saying that the vehicle and aircraft are moving therefore
permanent external interference is unlikely. I also suspect the term
"utilized exclusively" should be adhered to very closely.

For internal interference SAE requirements for vehicles and DO160D
requirements for aircraft would supply requirements to insure internal
compatibility.

Any thoughts on this matter would be appreciated.
