Rick, Yeah, buy them in the UK. A long time ago I had a field problem in the UK where the mains fuse blew on power up. The FS guys kept replacing them with fuses bought locally and the fuses kept blowing. It turns out that the fuses made over there are tested to IEC 127 whereas the same value/size fuse made here is tested to US (UL) standards. Different time current curves. We had to require all fuses be bought from the US and that solved the problem. In the end, we finally changed all of our designs and do not use 1/4x1-1/4 fuses any more, only use 5x20mm size. And, no problems with availability or premature blowing as the fuses we use are dual rated.

Everyone that I've talked to so far (including the big USA Fuse Mfgr's) recommend the 5x20mm fuse and fuseholder. The 5x20mm meets IEC 127, but I'm trying to avoid changing the fuseholder. Do any of you know where I can find a 1 1/4" fuse, that meets IEC 127 (EN 60127)? Best Regards, Rick --------- This message is coming from the emc-pstc discussion list.
