Richard,

Might I suggest that you replace the old galvanized wire mesh with a #8 mesh
/dia. size of no less that .018.  Overlap the mesh for soldering.  Etch the
galv. with muriatic acid, using a natural bristle brush.  Use a generous
amount of acid and let stand for no less than 1 minute.  Use pneumatic air
compressor to clear away excess acid, do not use water!  Apply solder to
ground plane using heavy duty soldering gun.  We use the American Beauty
Number 3198 with a massive 550W.  Call California Tool Co. for catalog.  Use
any kind of solder with this gun, pref. rosin or acid core.  After soldering
complete clean and re-coat mesh with galvanizing spray.  WAH-LAA.  Should be
no more than a two hour job.

Good luck at NSA, now I must get back to my own Ground Plane.
