Hi Richard, First thing to mind is powder coating, where the metal is heated, dipped into coating particles, and baked, for a very durable finish.
Next thing is Paralyne (sp?) which is a vacuum oven process. I don't know how durable it is, but it might be worth checking out. Mike Harris Teccom Co.
