Bob: The anechoic absorber removal can be very messy, but worth it if you can salvage material that runs maybe $25 per square foot. The urethane foam seems to age one of two ways; either getting dry and crumbly or gooey and sticky.
Try to find some long, flexible knives. I have used ice choppers (unknown in California), and sharpened their edge. You can use these things by sliding then along the shield surface, slowly chopping the foam away from the wall. At best, it will be a dusty, filthy job. Respirator masks and ventillation fans are a must. I assume you are then going to dissassemble and move the panels. Get a couple of electric or air driven screwdrivers/nutdrivers. But before that, code number each seam panel and clamp rail, inside and outside. Rooms were often custom fit, with some of the hardware "trimmed to fit." Before you re-assemble, fix all panel edges and solvent-clean mating surfaces. Send all clamp rails out for re-plating as needed. Check filters for oil leaks; filters 20 years or older have a high chance of having Arochlor (polychlorinated biphynel,PCB) or even mineral oil (flammable / explosive). Don't bring an Official Environmental Headache onto your property. My prediction is that you will never again want to experience this type of project.
