Chris's advice piqued my curiosity, so I looked in a distributor's 
catalogue (RS Components, here in the UK) and found that only 
one of the five thermal fuses on offer conforms to EN60691.  Which 
doesn't make it quite so easy to use components that "...comply... 
with the applicable safety requirements of a relevant IEC Standard." 
(quoting a bit of BSEN61010-1) without performing the appropriate 
tests oneself.
