Cyril:

I don't believe there is a safety (UL) requirement for ITE equipment that
will be installed in a vehicle.

I have been writing a test plan for a customer that requires extensive
testing to SAE J1455 and J1113 and there is no "safety" involved.  It is
basically environmental, transient voltage, immunity and emissions based
testing.

If you need more specifics on individual tests contained in those two
standards, please contact me directly.
