This reminds me of a problem I had with UL Heat-Shrink Sleeving.

Company "A" had the UR mark and it was sourced from two distributors.

Distributor "B" maintained the identity of the manufacturer on the rolls of
sleeving - there was no problem.

Distributor "C" cut the sleeving in short lengths and packaged it in short
lengths - there was do UL traceability and I suggested that they did a stock
purge of the non=traceable stock.

That was how we resolved it problem of traceability.

There are distributors that badge and therefore modify products.

Modification can be merely changing the label - or circuit modification - or
changing to labeling/instructions.

The way that many good (and not necessarily large) distributors overcome the
problem is to register with UL and place themselves under the UL Follow-Up
Program - that way there is assurance - traceability and no problem.

Hope that helps.

Subject: UL - marking

We are buying an UL recognized UL power supply to our ITE. Our power supply
distributor has put his brandname on the power supply and the only link to
the
original power supply manufacturer is the UL number and not any name or
logo.
So the label on the power supply unit has the name of the distributor and
the
manufacturer UL number.

Can we get any problems with UL during thee follow-up process ? I ask
because I
have a feeling that the name of the manufacturer should be present on the
power
supply unit.

Best regards
Amund Westin, Oslo/Norway
