I must admit to finding earthing terminology confusing, probably because
I get involved with it on an infrequent basis. Reference is generally
back to EN 60950 to check. I don't have a copy of EN 60335 but would be
surprised if it was really different from EN 60950.

The "Protective Earth Ground" is marked by the symbol 60417-5019, the one
enclosed in a circle. This is used for "connecting a main protective
earthing terminal to an earth point in the building installation." This
is the terminal normally used for the green/yellow lead of the mains
input lead and should only have a single connection. In the event of
there being the option of more than one mains input, redundancy for
example where separate power supplies are connected to independent
sources, each input should have an associated "Protective Earth Ground"
terminal. So it is possible to have more than one terminal but each
should only have a single connection.

All other earth ground points can be marked with symbol 5017, the one
without the circle, and more than one "Protective Bonding Conductor" can
be fixed to each point provided they are attached according to the standard.

Hope this helps,

Neil Helsby
