For those interested in the complete details of banned substances,
Article 4 of the ROHS Directive states:-
"Member states shall ensure that, from 1 July 2006, new electrical and
electronic equipment put on the market does not contain lead, mercury,
cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) or poly
brominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE).
The Annex details the applications that are exempted from these
requirements.

You can find the latest ROHS Draft (dated 8 November 2002) at the
following (copy it fully to make the one line URL) :
http://www2.europarl.eu.int/omk/sipade2?PUBREF=-//EP//NONSGML+DOC-C+C5-2
002-0487+0+DOC+PDF+V0//EN&L=EN&LEVEL=1&NAV=S&LSTDOC=Y

Alternatively, go to www.EurActiv.com and enter ROHS in the search
facility and you will see a list to various documents. The one that is of
interest is (today) a few documents down the list, just below the WEEE
that may also be of interest.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Neil Helsby
