Amund, It looks like the Steinner Tunnel tests are the mosty severe and I do not know why on earth you would be using such rating unless you are making building assemblies which include the cables.
For general use (US and Canada requirements also acceptable world-wide) the following guidelines might help. Please note that I am using the words 'Listed' and 'Recognized' in the body of the message. 1. Telecom Cables must meet UL1863. There is an equivalent CSA standard but I have not come across any cables in the market meeting the CSA equivalent standard and there should not be a problem using only UL1863 telecom cables for Canadian Certification. 2. Internal Wires - Use any US Recognized/Canada Certified appliance wiring material suitable for the rated voltage and current/temperature and made of PVC, TFE, PTFE, FEP or neoprene insulation. There are some very special cases where you would need to choose additional properties such as being in close contact with liquids, moving parts, etc. but in most applications, this is not the case. 3. For external cables other than telecom cables, if the cable length is less than 3.05 m and is used for low voltage communication, you can use any US Recognized/Canada Certified cable suitable for the rated voltage and current/temperature. For lengths exceeding 3.05 m, these cables must be US Listed/Canada Certified power limited cable (such as CM type). Both the NEC/CEC and the UL60950/CAN CSA C22.2 60950 specify the types of cables which may be used for this purpose. For other than communication cables, the cord/cable must be US Listed/Canada Certified and suitable for the voltage, current/temperature and other possible properties depending on the application such as outdoor use, wet environments, motion, automotive, desk-top or floor-mounted equipment, for use in ducts or plenums, etc..You may need to consult the NEC/CEC, UL60950/CAN CSA C22.2 60950 and other particular US/Canadian standards which specify the types of cables which can be used fo! r this purpose.
