Chris, The CE Marking Declaration of Conformity should be signed by the designated corporate or senior management personnel who have the authority. Essentially, whoever has been empowered to enter into commitments on behalf of the manufacturer should be the signatory. Please refer to the following text at h tp://europa.eu.int/comm/enterprise/electr_equipment/emc/guides/chapnine.htm "Paragraph 1 of Annex I of the Directive describes the content of the EC declaration of conformity, which must include the following: description of the apparatus to which it refers,
reference to the specifications(46) under which conformity is declared and, where appropriate, to the internal measures implemented to ensure the conformity of the apparatus with the provisions of the Directive, identification of the signatory empowered to bind the manufacturer or his authorised representative, established within the EEA Referring to website http://www.tukes.fi/englanti/electricit _elevators/instructions/vaatimustenmukaisuusvakuutus_eng.html , please note the following text. "........Signature with clarification and identification of the signatory who has been empowered to enter into commitments on behalf of the manufacturer or his authorised representative established within the Community". Chis, If you are the manufacture, residence within the EU/EEA is not required. John Radomski "Chris Allen" <[email protected]. To: [email protected] com> cc: Sent by: Subject: DoCs - where must the signatory reside? owner-emc-pstc@majordo mo.ieee.org 02/23/2004 04:56 AM Please respond to "Chris Allen" I have a question, which I'm sure has been asked a number of time before, but I am still unsure as to the answer. Must the signatory of a Declaration of Conformity reside within the EU? Of the directives I have looked at, there seems to be some conflict: EMC Directive - "The manufacturer or his authorized representative established within the Community shall affix the CE marking in accordance with Article 12 and shall draw up a written declaration of conformity" LVD - 'The EC declaration of conformity is the procedure whereby the manufacturer or his authorized representative established within the Community:' R&TTE Directive - "It shall be affixed under the responsibility of the manufacturer, his authorized representative within the Community or the person responsible for placing the apparatus on the market."
