Gary, Thanks ! This is my understanding too. Suppose the interlocked cover would not close if the interlock defeat element was not removed after service had been completed. The intent is to provide the service personnel with a level of protection while they are working on the system, and to insure that the service personnel cannot forget to return the system to its normal operator protecting operational levels.
