You must have an old copy of IEC60417 in the latest version and some previous versions symbol No. 5926 is labeled “Polarity of D.C. power connector” instead of the + and – in circles, it is in a square rotated 45 degrees or tipped up on its corner, the rest is as you described it. Description of the symbol is as follows “To identify the positive and negative connections (the polarity) of a d.c. power supply, or the positive and negative connections on a piece of equipment to which a d.c. power supply may be connected”. This is the symbol that has a positive symbol on one side and a negative symbol on the other, both in circles, with a circle inside a C between the two polarity circles. The C is connected to one of the polarity circles and the circle inside the C is connected to other polarity circle. I can't find a reference to this symbol in IEC 60417, unless my copy is too old to have it. Any help is appreciated.
