Hi, I have made three different manipulators, 1 Orthogonal manipulator and 2 Ortho-axis manipulators. By far the easiest to build and run are the ortho-axis manipulators. The problem I found with the orthogonal manipulators is that the product is upside-down, or on its end. Unless the product is designed to handle those orientations, changing the orientation of the product affects the seam contacts and cable positions. The ortho-axis manipulator maintains the EUT to cable position constant, and keeps gravity in mostly the normal position. Wood is ok, but at higher frequencies, this will through off the readings. I suggest Delrin. It is strong, clean and not too exotic. Regards, Mat

I have had this installed in my last place of work and it provides three orientations for your EUT. That entails tying the EUT to the table surface along with the load. I do not know what the Boss manupilator costs on its own because we had decided to go for the GTEM and the manupilator together. It is not the same as making a wooden table! Good luck! The table itself is quite complicated with motors and two dimensional rotations. When its all said and done it would be money well spent on buying it from the manufacturer and having them install it. With all the down sizing you might come across a used table out there but I would still recommend that you have ETS install it. The external motors are quite large and heavy its a multi person task and quite dangerous. Your locate ETS rep could help you locate a used GTEM or at least the table (manipulator).
