Dear experts

We have a customer who has had their declaration of conformity questioned by
the purchaser. The equipment is a 42U 19 inch rack, with approx 40 ITE
products within it. the rack is fed from a single phase 63A socket. The total
load is approx 45A. the whole rack has been tested by a USA safety lab to
EN60950 3rd edition. the (UK ) end customer is now questioning whether the DoC
should reference BS7671 (UK's Wiring Regulations)with the result of the 63A
feed being hardwired, secondary earthing being implemented to meet the
earth-leakage requirement and the power distribution being redesigned to
prevent "daisy-chaining" pluggable earth connections. Over the years we have
EMC tested many racks but never seen one which did not have pluggable mains
connectors. Each 'component' within the rack draws a max of 2A most at 0.5A We
do not have safety expertise within the company, so I asking this question of
the forum.

"Is EN60950 the right standard for power distribution inside a rack?""
