You can get plastic rope tensioners at any good sporting good store. They are used to tighten the hold down ropes for tents, etc. Basically, it is a plastic strip several inches (or cm) long with a sideways slot in each end that the rope goes through and is held in place by a pinching action. Obviously, the plastic must be rigid enough so as not to bend. You just take up the slack until you have sufficient tension in the ropes. John Shinn

The tie down spots for each position is not equi-distant at each location, which means that a fixed length tie down rope is not possible. We have to adjust the rope for each spot. The way we are doing it now leaves some play in the ropes and opens the possibility for a wind gust to cause problems. I am looking for a nonconductive tensioner or clamp that I can put at the end of the rope that will allow us to adjust the rope so that it is tight at both positions. Does anybody out there have any ideas or suggestions? The only other options that I have at the moment is to bore new tie down spots or use a metal strap tensioner, which I would rather steer clear of if possible . Thanks in advance.
