Seems to me that some Cowboy Engineering could solve this problem…unless
you’re worried that your customers may see such engineering and draw the
wrong impression about your EMC testing prowess.

I don’t know what your length discrepancy is (a couple of inches, a few
feet, 10 yards???). For anything from a few inches to a few feet; it seems
that you could play some tricks with a small piece of PVC pipe to take up the
slack. The solution could be something as simple as a short piece of schedule
40 PVC around which you wrap the excess. You could even glue a couple of
T’s on the ends to make sure the rope doesn’t’ slip over the ends.

On the other hand; I’m sure that there are some off the shelf parts to do
what you want…I just can’t think of any.

Good luck

Subject: Antenna Mast Tie Downs - Non Conductive Tensioners

Group,

We have an antenna mast that is used at 3 m and 10m distances. The tie down
spots for each position is not equi-distant at each location, which means that
a fixed length tie down rope is not possible. We have to adjust the rope for
each spot.

The way we are doing it now leaves some play in the ropes and opens the
possibility for a wind gust to cause problems.

I am looking for a nonconductive tensioner or clamp that I can put at the end
of the rope that will allow us to adjust the rope so that it is tight at both
positions.

Does anybody out there have any ideas or suggestions? The only other options
that I have at the moment is to bore new tie down spots or use a metal strap
tensioner, which I would rather steer clear of if possible .

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,

Mac Elliott
