I agree that never is too stronger word. Fitting them in a garage is a good example that didn't occur to me at the time.

To say they are 'never fitted in a consumer environment' is a bit extreme. I have several of them in my garage because they are far better than BS 1363 types for connecting heavy duty power tools. BS 1363 plugs may be rated at 13A, but in my experience running them at anything more than about 10A is asking for trouble in the long term. Nick.
