It's probably worth pointing out that while IEC 60309 connectors are uncommon in a domestic environment in the UK, and it is highly unlikely that they would be installed unless specifically requested by the house owner, there is nothing the wiring regulations which prevents them from being fitted and it's easy enough to get them from any building supplies outlet or electrical wholesaler.
To say they are 'never fitted in a consumer environment' is a bit extreme. I have several of them in my garage because they are far better than BS 1363 types for connecting heavy duty power tools. BS 1363 plugs may be rated at 13A, but in my experience running them at anything more than about 10A is asking for trouble in the long term. Nick.
