Kris,
As someone who just submitted a few products with THREE radios on
different bands - they do need to be transmitting simultaneously during
SAR testing if this is a possible use of the product - at least for the
FCC SAR review. I think for many other countries, you can do the SAR
independently, but since we have to do it for the FCC anyway, we do it
for everyone.

The only exception here is Bluetooth, which if you are running class II
(appx 2-3 mW) should not be *required* to be active for FCC SAR, but
it's good practice to have it running anyway (at least for SAR). We
enabled it.

Note that this is all assuming that you don't have a "fixed" or "mobile"
device (as defined by the FCC) and can't just use MPE calculations, in
which case you could just use a sum.

Best Regards,
-Dave Heald

Subject: EMF testing multiple radios

Hi group,

A product contains multiple radio's at the same and/or different
frequencies (ex. WLAN & Bluetooth (2.4GHz) & WLAN 5GHz.
Do all radios have to be activated (transmitting) simultaneously to
measure EMF, SAR at once or shall each radio be tested individually? Is
this maybe country dependent?

Best regards,

Kris Carpentier
