Everyone is invited to our first IEEE UK and Republic of Ireland EMC Chapter
meeting of 2006, this coming Wednesday, 1st March. This will be an excellent
opportunity to hear about new developments, both technical and regulatory,
including advance information on the DTI consultation on the new EMC
Regulations implementing the new EMC Directive 2004/108/EC.
The event is free, but please note the requirement to register in advance.

Information available on speakers and talks:
Trevor Morsman's updated talk will cover BT's experience in assessing Radio
Frequency Interference issues encountered during the development and
deployment of broadband ADSL services.
Trevor Morsman joined BT's EMC team in 1986 and is now BT's Principal EMC
Consultant. He has led many EMC research activities and for the past 8 years
has been looking at the EMC issues related with Broadband DSL Engineering.
Most recently dealing specifically with broadband customer interference
issues. He is involved with EMC Standardisation and is a member of CISPR I,
the ETSI/CENELEC JWG on the EMC of Extensive Networks and BSI GEL210/11.
Paul Sayer is a product manager at AVX. He has specialised in passive
components and circuit protection for many years and his talk will consider
these topics. He has been a licensed and active radio amateur for 21 years
and this background has given him a solid understanding of RF, EMC and EMI
issues.
Brian Jones is an independent EMC consultant offering advice and training to
companies of all sizes, worldwide. He is a member of the EMC, lightning
protection and ESD committees of the British Standards Institution. He is
Secretary of the European EMC committee CENELEC TC210, an EMC laboratory
assessor for UKAS, and a Competent Body signatory. For the past eighteen
months he has been EMC consultant to the DTI, and is currently assisting them
in transposing the new EMC Directive 2004/108/EC into UK Law. Brian is a
Chartered Engineer and a member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers,
the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (USA), the EMC Test
Laboratories Association, and Intellect.
The event is an open meeting. All welcome.
