Compliance with what? Safety and EMC requirements, and many others, are regularly (many say too regularly) updated, and in Europe and elsewhere the superseded standards can be relied on only for a transition period, often three years. Beyond that, the product has to be reassessed to the new standard. Be careful about 'more modern', especially for EMC. Newer products often have shorter response times and quite different 'EMC signatures'. Fitting such a device may well invalidate EMC compliance to the standard that was originally OK. -- OOO - Own Opinions Only.
