Dear List Members; I am looking for guidance.
When (if ever) is it mandatory to include an Emergency Stop Switch/Button in a machine's design? Must an emergency stop switch be completly hardware, or can it function through the instrument's computer and software? What responce time should be expected? (2 part question) a) How long must the emergency switch be held before the function is recognized by the instrument (i.e. if I tap the switch and run, will it stop the machine). b) How long till the machine stops its action after the button is pressed?
