Once again I find myself in total awe at the knowledge (and beards!!)
possessed by this group!

Kind regards

I also replaced the shorted battery of my beard-clipper with a Radio Shack
ni-cad AA, soldering the wires directly to the battery. It has been working
fine for the last six years. Ni-cads don't like heat so you want to solder as
quickly as possible.

Thanks to all who replied. It was indeed a pair of NiCd batteries. I am kind
of like Mr. Borowski, I hate to throw something out that can be easily fixed.
I am going to remove the batteries and continue to use the device as a
mains-powered appliance.

I have replaced the NiCad battery pair in my shaver a couple of times over the
years. My Norelco uses two standard AA cells. It originally had solderable tab
cells, but Radio Shack doesn't normally carry that style. But it's easy to
solder on a jumper strap and create your own battery pack.

This also gives you a good excuse to look inside the shaver; admit it, you
really would like to do that!
