I've always used this approach and for just the reasons that John points out. - although the ink may cost a fraction of a cent the process to get the ink placed there is more expensive - the ultimate cost of tracking and attending meetings to determine which must have it which don't is more even more expensive . I also include a small note that the most current copy, or a signed copy of the DoC can be attained through our website. That insures that the information in the manual stays up to date between updates or printings and it keeps at bay those that insist on a hand signed copy of the original rather than an electronic copy of the signature. Haven't had to supply any DoC's other than the manual so far - for good or evil - except in the single even where the proper marking was left of the outer packaging and the French customs folks wanted verification.
