What is that string for?

Yes, well, it's due to the confusion I explained. There will be attempts 
at recovering the situation.

I'm pretty sure that the figures quoted are about acoustic shock in its 
correct definition (i.e. transient very high level sounds, 'clicks'). 
There is a side-comment about audio sources, but no figures:

There are also voltage limits for audio sources.


Zealots are now using 'acoustic shock' to include long-term exposure, 
which is an abuse. Once zealots are involved, semantic accuracy goes out 
of the window, and not by accident.
