This would be very practical if you can mount the LISN so that its face with the power socket is upwards. The 18" is probably not enough for that. This is because if you follow the CISPR 22 standard, the impedance of AMN must be verified with any extension cable used and this may be difficult near 30 MHz. The 80 cm would not be a problem with CISPR 22 since this is measured to the extra socket attached to LISN which is flush with ground plane. If you can make a small hole to the ground plane so that you can plug the EUT to the LISN immediately under the ground plane (with no extension cable), you would be also fine with CISPR 22 since the 80 cm is measured to the ground plane in this case. Note that the hole needs a cover plate for radiated test. Hopefully LISN manufacturers notice this one day and turn the receptacle to the top of LISN so that they nicely fit under turntable. regards, Ari Honkala
