The Federal requirements basically match the California requirements. California has been mandating more efficiency for external supplies for a while. The Federal requirements starting July 1, 2008 match the California requirements for the same date. California has had slightly less stringent requirements in effect for a while. This listed Energy Star website appears to be totally voluntarily and not a federal requirement. Question: Does anyone know the actual date of the publication of this law in the Federal Register, the scope of Actual Law as passed, and the real requirements of the law ??? I have not been able to locate the actual law and determine it's specific requirements or applicability to what classes of devices it is applied to (i.e.: consumer only - or does it apply to laboratory and industrial equipment also) A Google search turned up about 200K items but no actual reference to a real law.
