In my version of 61000-4-2 it states that "The EUT and ESD generator (including any external power supply) shall be grounded in accordance with their installation instructions."

I would consider it an error to hook any grounds to this. I await correction :-) Sincerely, Derek Walton, L F Research. -----Original Message----- From: Ian White (UK) <[email protected]> To: IEEE Forum ([email protected]) <[email protected]> Sent: Wed, Aug 24, 2011 4:30 am Subject: EN61000-4-2 questions Forum members, We are testing a product which is made of metal and due to the size of it l have a table top test set up very similar to that shown in Figure 4 of the standard EN61000-4-2:2009. The unit is sitting on insulation 0.5mm thick on the horizontal coupling reference plane. In service this product sits in a steam line and has hardwired earths connected to earth for functional reasons, I have connected these earths to the horizontal coupling plane, is this correct ? The standard does not appear to give any guidance on this matter, but it seems the only logical solution. Thanks for your help.
