Hi Ian, I would argue that the only purpose of the HCP is for injecting noise into your EUT. I would consider it an error to hook any grounds to this. I await correction :-)

In service this product sits in a steam line and has hardwired earths connected to earth for functional reasons, I have connected these earths to the horizontal coupling plane, is this correct ?
