Carl, I would like to share with you my learning from CQC early this month. For a factories located in the US, initial factory inspection is conducted by the Chinese auditors designated by CQC. Follow-up inspection can be done through UL. The auditors follow the implementation rule to conduct factory inspection. From my understanding, a quality system certificate is helpful, not mandatory. The factory must show quality assurance. Typically, a team with two auditors inspect four factories in one trip to the US. Four factories share auditors' travel expenses. For one ITE product category, the inspection takes about 2 days. Add one more day for each additional category. Factory inspection fee, as of May 1, 2009, is RBM 2500 per auditor per day. I hope this helps. With regards, Grace Lin
