Gary, Does it only latch up in use - actually recording or play-back - or can it latch up when doing neither (I will not say un-powered as many devices these days use electronic switching) Can the operator insert a USB stick and clear the problem? Can the problem be cleared by removing the battery/power and re-connecting? Issue that I can predict is a child getting hold of the device. Kids are always sticking fingers (and many other things) into holes. If kid gets hold of the device and latches it up the parent will need an easy way to unlatch it. I cannot predict how many kids will get hold of the device and stick fingers in the hole - so I would assume 100% ! Regards Tim

It seems highly unlikely this will occur in the field – get it to market & make some money. But, if there are other weaknesses and vulnerabilities then you may end up a warranty and image nightmare. I wouldn't bring the issue to people’s attention by warning about it in the manual. It would just give people the sense that the product of poor quality, compromised in design and second rate, very negative impressions for the product and your brand image. IF you sense there is a risk that people will stick their fingers into the hole, warn them not to on the basis that objects may damage the ‘highly sensitive microphone’.
