Seriously- this is Debug 101: know the root-cause before proposing a solution.
(or as the classic Dilbert strip reads: "first, identify the problem,
then
find a solution")
Exchanging components of the EUT System is a classic method to identify which
component is contributing to the fault.
Once the engineer knows which component is contributing, then s/he can
focus
efforts on that bad component.
Starting debug without identifying the subsystem at fault is rarely
successful.
