Hi Scott, This is not shown in the standards, but I have seen this requirement placed on products where the power adapter is an optional item e.g. a device that can be powered either by PoE or an external AC/DC adapter.
The product will have been certified using a LPS, so the manufacturer must ensure that, when a user sources a suitable PSU, the integrity of the certification is maintained. Cheers, Chris Allen Scott Douglas <[email protected]> Sent by: [email protected] 17/09/2009 02:07 To "'EMC PSTC'" <[email protected]> cc Subject Looking for Source of Requirement To All, I find this statement is a user manual: "This product is intended to be supplied by a Listed Power Unit, marked with “Limited Power Source,” “LPS” and “Class II” on the unit, and output rated ..." The product is usually approved to either ITE (60950) or to A/V (60065) standards. I am curious to know where this requirement comes from, specifically page, paragraph, and rule. I looked in both and did not find it. Can anyone point me to a source? As always, thanks in advance for your help.
