Amund,

EN 54-2 1997 says the following on this test

“15.14.2.5 Final measurements

After the recovery period, subject the specimen to the functional test and
inspect it visually for mechanical

damage both externally and internally.”

The recovery period is defined in the referenced base standard EN 600068-2-78
which states

“Relative humidity shall be adjusted to a value of 73 % to 77 % RH in not
more than 0,5 h, after which the temperature shall be adjusted to laboratory
temperature within 1 K in not more than 0,5 h.”

Kind Regards

Kevin Harris

Subject: Damp heat test

We are going to carry to a damp heat test according to EN54-2 (fire alarm
systems).

The damp heat test has test levels as +40C / 95%Rh and the duration is 21 days
with the equipment POWERED OFF during the test.

Question: After 21 days, a functional test shall be carried out. Shall this
test be carried out at the end of the test med damp heat condition or shall
the equipment first be brougth back to normal conditioning and the functional
tested.

Please EN54-2 experts, looking forward to some comments on this issue.

Best regards

Amund Westin
