Kim Boll If the PTC and diode in the cell are easily identifiable (ie get specs from cell manufacturer), this should be enough. Make sure the protection PTC impedance limits the current so as not to exceed the battery abnormal reverse current rating (obtained by getting the UL Conditions of Acceptability) Best Regards Peter

The pack have UR approval, but this is only for the cell not including the protection/charging circuit integrated in the cell. The solution is to integrate a simple protection circuit in the main product. This could be done by a Zener diode between poles and a PTC in the positive pole + a normal Li-Po charging controller (+ diode in charger connector for external charger PSU for reveres polarity.) Is there a UL standard for Li-Po safety or is there any UL design requirements for such a protection (eg. Double the PTC and Zener diodes) Best regards, Mr. Kim Boll Jensen Bolls Rådgivning Ved Gadekæret 11F DK-3660 Stenløse Phone: +45 48 18 35 66 [email protected] www.bolls.dk - ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message is from the IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society emc-pstc discussion list.
