I've been reading through Vol 2 of "Electromagnetic Interference and
Compatibility" and the author writes that the QP detector is distinguished
from the peak detector by its time-constants. The charge time-constant
being 1ms and discharge time-constant either 160ms for HF or 550ms for
VHF receivers. It would seem to be a simple as that with no
post-processing by receiver or computer necessary. The book is 35 years
old, but I suspect QP detectors haven't changed since then.
