My RCA XL-100 (26 years), my Sanyo VCR (14 years) and my satellite box (13 
years) get used every day.  Some consumer electronic equipment are 
long-life.

It's up to the industry sectors that make 'long-life' products to lobby 
the European Commission **en masse** on the subject. It has to be a 
concerted effort, embracing all relevant sectors.

If you don't ask, you don't get. If you do ask, you might still not get, 
but it's worth trying.
