Was surprised how quickly ANSI adopted this standard. Note that the Energy
Policy Act of 2005 essentially requires utilities to meet reliability
guidelines and publish an interface plan.

My employer's customers have noted that most utilites do not publish an
interface plan. Look on the respective utility's web site for something 
like

Bin -

IEEE 1547 is the base line.  As you enter a utility's area of operation,
you will need to contact them to discover if they have any unique
requirements for your company's technologies.
